Take the terrace of Het Wapen van Kennemerland, or De Stinkende Emmer. Where the terrace has been a closing point at many cafes and restaurants for years, the terrace is increasingly becoming a fully-fledged extension of the business. In collaboration with Senft Zonwering, a complete package of wishes was discussed and an investment plan was drawn up. This takes into account the location of the building in relation to the path of the sun, the wind direction, the view, the extent to which there is a need for cooling, heating and shelter. All elements that play a role have been taken into account and have resulted in a fully-fledged outdoor restaurant. And it is precisely all these natural forces that make it so important that nothing can be compromised on quality. Everything is already used intensively in the catering industry, but now it also has to be weather-resistant and then cheap quickly becomes expensive.
